Margaret Garrett

I was born a Lancashire lass in Rochdale to Methodist, Liberal parents. As a teenager I became a member of a group called The Rochdale Crusaders which went round the area leading meetings for other young people.

With this group I attended a Billy Graham meeting in Manchester and there committed my life to Jesus. At the age of 7 I wrote, 'When I grow up I want to be a Nursery school teacher and in the evening I will darn my husband's socks!' One of these came true when I trained as a Nursery/Infant teacher at Sunderland Training College. There I met Geoff and when we married in 1962 we settled in Darlington where Geoff and his family attended Victoria Rd Church. When the church closed we moved to Eastbourne and now I have been made very welcome are Hurworth where I help with Messy Church. Our daughter lives in Harrogate with Chris and daughter Naomi. Ben having got a full time job has fled the nest and lives in Leeds.

I enjoy baking and cake decorating, flower arranging and walking. I volunteer with the day care at the Hospice which I find most rewarding, everyone is so cheerful.
