Morvyn

Hello, I am Morvyn Sanderson, the Circuit Children and Young people's worker. I am not 'Darlo' born and bred but I have lived here since I was 7 and Elm Ridge is my home church. Married to my fabulous husband Paul, for I am sure to him seems like an eternity! I have returned from maternity this year after adding number 5 to our brood of children, Euan, Isaac, Niamh, Rowan, and now Orla — we are pretty noisy and generally crackers. We also have a 4yr old Labrador called Bilbo who is like another child!

I went to university in Hull after doing an amazing gap year in Namibia, and settled back in Darlington to start work for the voluntary sector supporting youth volunteering in Stockton. I then moved into community development and worked for Darlington Council for 9 yrs developing community partnerships within the town and supporting some fantastic projects to get up and running. When I qualified as a youth and community worker, I knew I had chosen the right thing for me! I love being with people and developing new things, especially where there is a need and community work is a great vehicle for this. I had the privilege of being part of lots of youth work throughout that time, often because communities want their young people engaged. Youth work is something that I have always been drawn to and it was great to work with the young people in those situations as well as at church on Sunday evenings.

In 2014 I became the Circuit Children and Young People's worker, this was not something I had ever thought I would be! I could feel God speaking to me persistently and I knew that I had to apply, even though I was very happy in my job in Durham. I don't underestimate what God can do, but when He takes your life and changes it dramatically it really hits home how loved we are and that our purpose in furthering God's Kingdom is real and tangible. Our gifts are given for a reason and I am thankful to be able to use mine in this circuit role. It's challenging but lots of fun and I hope everyone will be patient as things change.

God values each one of our children and young people and it is my prayer that in our Circuit they will feel His love for them through our witness in word and action. Please pray for the team of people involved in children's ministry in the circuit, that God will use them well and bless the children and young people!
